Dr. Wilkerson graduated from medical school and then completed his general surgery internship, orthopaedic surgical residency, and an additional fellowship in orthopaedic surgery and biomechanics at the VCU School of Medicine—Virginia Commonwealth University. He then accomplished another fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Miami.
He is an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Wilkerson worked closely with the 2001 National Champion University of Miami Hurricanes football team, serving as assistant Team Physician. Also, during this year of additional surgical training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, he completed clinical research in arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
Furthermore, he has completed several research projects in orthopaedic surgery and biomechanics, and multiple national peer-reviewed medical journals published his study.
Dr. Wilkerson is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Virginia. He specializes in shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle injuries and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
